History
In the 1950s, developer Rex Heslop transformed Rexdale from farmland into a thriving neighborhood, anticipating demand from Highway 401 and nearby airport jobs. His vision proved right, as the subdivision quickly sold out by the early 1960s.

Rexdale Plaza, at Islington and Rexdale Boulevard, features an Asian supermarket, shops, offices, a women’s health club, and the Northern Elms Library. Rexdale Boulevard offers retail stores, car dealerships, a big-box store, a bowling alley, and offices, while Kipling Avenue has fast-food spots and two plazas with everyday essential.
